LADIES BIBLE STUDY
We have a ladies Bible Study once a month on a Saturday morning
We do take a break during the months of July and December.
We meet at 8:45 am and aim to finish around 10:30 am.
Location: We are meeting in the main church hall. (The Guthrie Hall)
Our Bible Study is usually based on the Church 5 by 5 reading for the week.
We unfortunately cannot discuss all the passages in one morning and choose from the various passages.
Some months only one teacher will lead. Other months you are welcome to share in the teaching and prepare a nugget or two you have learnt. Please let me know if you want an allocated passage to participate in this. Please always let me know by the Sunday afternoon before. I will send an email out Sunday evenings with the allocated passages.
And if you are willing to read, please let Lucy know. For readers, I will let you know the week of the Bible Study.
We do have a couple of months where we bring snacks to share
"Share a snack" months are:
- Jan
- April
- July
- September
- November
We end off in November for the year and start up in January again.
I am excited about spending time together!!
Please let me know by Thursday afternoon of each Bible Study week if you will be joining us! Helps in preparing and having a seat ready for you!
We have different teams that help each time we meet.
Birthdays
Nancy
For those present at the Bible Study that morning, we have a birthday lady (Nancy) that just LOVES birthdays. She will have a little surprise up her sleeve to help celebrate those having a birthday that month.
(July’s birthdays will also be in June. December’s birthdays will be done in November.)
Unlock and Set up team
Lucy and Angela Langer
(Arrive 8:20 am. Unlock the church. Lights on. Hot water on. Set up for Bible Study. During the week remind David/Lance/ Michael that we will be there and to please to not set up the last three rows.)
Set up a round table for the food. Set up the three long tables where we sit, and set up chairs.
Tear down and set up for church team
Lexie and Shirley to oversee.
Please, all ladies that can, remain a few minutes after bible study and help. Lexi and Shirley to please remind us.
Snack to Share Team
Jeanette, Sandra, Angie M. and Teri:
Please ask these ladies how you can help on the morning! Thank you!
Snack and Share Team Tasks to oversee…
- Have a sign up set up and sent out the week of Bible Study for ladies to sign up and bring items.
- Direct ladies to where to place food the morning of.
- See that we pray for the food at the beginning of the meeting and let everyone get something to eat at the beginning of the meeting. The Bible Study leader tends to forget, so this is an important part of this ministry 😊
- Be over cleanup and encourage others to help. And see that leftovers get to the right places.
- You can pick a theme or not. Either is totally fine.
- Purchase and bring plastic tablecloths ( three long and one round), napkins and plates. Plastic ware is available at the church.
Napkins and plates are available at the church too, unless you want to buy napkins and plates with a special theme. (We have a tub of utensils and paper products in the closet that we use for the fellowship meals that Mike & Michele keep stocked. They have an overflow tub they keep topped up for fellowship meals. The men’s group uses out of the tub for their meals.
Some folks donate things like the big utensil packs from time to time. So, David said to use out of the tubs and let the Simmon’s know if anything is low after use. For the themed items such as napkins and tablecloths you can be reimbursed if you want to be by David.)
Lucy lock's up and sets alarm and sees that everything is back in order.
She is responsible to get the key from and return the key to David Langford.
Other things to mention:
In the beginning of 2025, we did a mission project together as a Bible Study group to Haven House. It was overseen by Sandra and a huge blessing.
In the Fall of 2026 Jeanette and Lucy are going to oversee our first Fall Bible Study retreat weekend. It will be a Friday evening and Saturday morning.
On an extra note:
We don’t do book studies as a church. We truly believe we are called to study the Bible.
From time to time two to four ladies have done a short discipleship together, using a solid book to learn from. (It is so important to always research the author of a book you choose to read.)
I personally have done a marriage discipleship with a young lady using a biblical book on a Godly marriage.
These discipleship sessions never replace the actual ladies’ bible study at church. All these ladies usually attend the official bible study too, even while doing a discipleship. It is His Word that truly brings transformation. Just think about Luke 24:32, They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”
There is also a fantastic discipleship program on the website that anyone can do with someone. If you have a neighbor that does not know the Lord or would like to know more. Why not do this with them.
So thankful for the precious ladies in this church. So thankful to be growing and learning together. Love you all and praying for you all.
