WHO WE ARE We are a Simple church, not cluttering our lives with many programs and events. We resolve to be a God glorifying; Christ centered, Spirit sanctifying; Biblically based Church. We gather to Worship God corporately and enjoy a structured track to study God’s Word personally. Our preaching style is Expository i.e. the preacher reads the Bible and explains it verse by verse. Our music includes old & new songs - valuing God exalting lyrics that are biblically sound. We partake in two ordinances: Believer's Baptism and a monthly Lord's Supper. Our church polity is Elder led and congregationally affirmed on major decisions. We are an autonomous congregation that is affiliated with the Knox County Association of Baptists and her mission partners for the purpose of reaching the Nations with the gospel.
We believe that the Scriptures are not only inspired by God and therefore inerrant, but that the Bible is Sufficient as the final authority for Christians for faith and godliness, with all other authorities being subservient.
The purpose of His People is to teach and train our members to know God as completely as we can. This can only be achieved through the study of God's Word and its application after it is understood. We therefore desire to learn how to glorify God in all things and above all things, and to be transformed into the image of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. We commit ourselves to the Great Commandment: to love God & love others (Matthew 22:36-40) We commit ourselves to the Great Commission: to make disciples of all nations(Matthew 28-19-21)
We value the power of God's sanctifying Word to transform lives. We value a simple church model (fewer programs with deeper rather than broader commitment) We value a deep commitment to God and His Word, to our family and to our Church family. We value personal daily Bible Study and family altars in the home. We value a commitment to biblical prayer (personally, congregationally and prayer in our homes). We value scripture memorization and application as an entire congregation. We value Christ's command to ‘Go make disciples’ over the non Biblical ‘attractional church’ model. We value missions and ministry cooperation with other like-minded churches. We value 'ministry teams' in every area of church ministry, including congregational care. We value 'whole family ministry' over segregating the body into age categories.
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save His people from their sins.” - Matthew 1:21
The phrase 'HIS People' appears 165 times in the Bible (ESV) refering to God's covenant people.
He provided redemption for His people; he ordained his covenant forever—holy and awesome is His name. - Psalm 111:9 'HIS People' are from every nation, tribe and tongue, both Jew and Gentile who have recieved redemption through the vicarious death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may proclaim the excellences of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy - 1 Peter 2:9-10 “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God himself will be with them as their God. - Revelation 21:3
