WHO WE ARE We resolve to be a God glorifying; Christ centered, Spirit sanctifying; Biblically based, Simple church. Without cluttering our lives with many programs and events, we gather to Worship God corporately and to put our members on track to study God’s Word personally. Our preaching style is Expository i.e. the preacher reads the Bible and explains it verse by verse. Our music 'style' is blended; Old & New Songs - valuing biblically sound lyrics over style. We partake in two ordinances: Believer's Baptism and a monthly Lord's Supper. Our church polity is Elder led and congregationally affirmed on major decisions. We teach that a person is saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone. We are an autonomous congregation - affiliated with the Knox County Association of Baptists and her mission partners for the purpose of reaching the Nations with the gospel. You are most welcome to join us anytime!
PURPOSE The purpose of His People is to glorify God and be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. We will wholeheartedly commit ourselves to the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28-19-21).
VALUES We value the power of the gospel to transform lives. We value deep commitment to God and His Word, to our families, our Church family and its purpose; We value a simple church model with few programs (allowing for deeper rather than broader commitment) We value personal daily Bible Study and family altars We value scripture memorization and application We value Jesus' ‘Go make disciples’ model for evangelism over the ‘attractional church’ model. We value missions and ministry cooperation with other like-minded churches. We value a commitment to prayer - personally, congregationally and in our homes. We value "ministry teams" rather than individual leaders in every area of church ministry, including congregational care. We value 'age inclusive' ministry over separating the body into segregated age and ministry categories.
OUR NAME The phrase 'HIS People' appears 165 times in the Bible (English Standard Version). In the Old Testament the phrase refers to God's covenant people, Israel. He provided redemption for His people; he ordained his covenant forever—holy and awesome is His name. - Psalm 111:9 In the New Testament it refers to God's New Covenant people, People from every nation, tribe and tongue both Jew and Gentile who have redemption through our Lord Jesus Christ! But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may proclaim the excellences of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy - 1 Peter 2:9-10 “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God himself will be with them as their God. - Revelation 21:3
